How do I book a wellness package?
To book a package, you may call the Concierge at 916-482-6111 ext. 1135, or stop by the Concierge desk in the lobby of the Health and Wellness Pavilion. The Concierge will ask for your contact information, your preferred package/program, preferred start date, and credit card number. After a brief consultation either via phone or in person, the Concierge will create an itinerary for you, based on your available dates and times. Once the itinerary is approved, we need a 100% deposit for the price of wellness package/program to hold the dates of services.
When does my wellness package/program begin?
One day packages begin at the time of the first booked service, which will be an orientation and tour of the resort (for nonmembers) with the Concierge. Stay & Play packages begin at the time of check-in. The Concierge will give you a tour of the resort, show you how to use the exercise equipment, answer any questions you may have, and show you where to report for each individual service. You will be given a villa key, which permits you access to the resort for the duration of their stay. You will also receive a detailed itinerary for their stay, outlining the times/locations of all of their services.
*Four, eight, and twelve week programs begin at the time of their first service, which will be an orientation and tour of the resort with the Concierge. If the nutritionist and designated personal trainer are on site at the time of the tour, introductions will be made.

- Strength & Conditioning: Front Desk for non-members; S&C Facility for members
- Spa treatments: Spa Desk located in the Boutique
If I sign up for a 4, 8, or 12 week program, am I allowed to use the resort during that time?

These options and pricing are only available to non-member wellness program participants. Clients will be issued a scan card on the first day of their program and it will expire on the last day of their program.
Non-member four, eight, and twelve week program participants who choose not to purchase a monthly resort pass will not have access to the resort during their program. Participants will have limited access during their appointment times (ie personal training, meals at Sprouts Natural Foods Café, etc.) and no scan cards will be issued. Participants will need to check in and check out with the front desk before and after appointments.

I am going to be unable to finish my wellness program, can my husband finish it for me?

Is there anything I need to bring with me to the nutrition consultation?
Bring your completed nutrition appraisal, which will be given to you during your Concierge consultation, and bring any questions you have.
What does a consultation include?
During your Nutrition Consultation, the nutritionist will review your medical history, current state of health, lifestyle, activity levels and eating habits in order to assess your current nutritional status. After reviewing paperwork and discussing your goals and/or concerns, the Nutritionist will then explain the possible cause(s) of your health concerns/goals and the steps you may wish to take in order to remedy them. If a certain area needs further investigation, the Nutritionist may offer recommended reading. The Nutritionist will work with you to create a personalized dietary and lifestyle program, providing you with relevant handouts and menu plans to support these suggestions. A program of nutritional supplements may also be recommended in order to correct any biochemical imbalances and nutrient deficiencies. A plan will be created to meet your needs, taste, and budget– all achievable within your lifestyle..
What is a follow-up nutrition consultation?
Follow-up nutrition consultations are included in some of the wellness programs and will last approximately 30 minutes. The Nutritionist will be available to assist and guide you as needed, for we believe that continuous support is vital to the success of your program. During a follow-up consultation, any necessary adjustments to the menu plan will be identified and modified.
What is a kitchen overhaul?
A kitchen overhaul will take place in your home and last approximately 2 hours. During the overhaul, the nutritionist will examine food items in the refrigerator and pantry, making suggestions on what to throw out and what to keep based on expiration dates and nutrition labels. The nutritionist will explain reasons for each of her recommendations, keeping your personal nutritional needs and goals in mind throughout the process. Arden Hills recommends completing a kitchen overhaul prior to a grocery trip with the Nutritionist for best results.
What is the grocery trip experience like with the nutritionist?
Grocery trips with the Nutritionist will take place at Whole Foods, unless otherwise agreed upon between you and the nutritionist. The nutritionist will meet you at Whole Foods and spend approximately 1.5 hours with you in the store. The nutritionist will give you a lesson in selecting healthy foods, as well as help you purchase any necessary ingredients to prepare the recommended meals from your menu plan.
Is the cost of food included in the price of the grocery shopping trip?
No, the cost of food is not factored into the cost of the grocery shopping trip, either individually or as part of a package/program.
What is a trip to the farmer’s market?
Trips to the farmer’s market with the nutritionist is available year-round, although the location may vary seasonally. The trip will last approximately 1-1.5 hours. The nutritionist will help identify what to look for when selecting produce as well as classify which foods should be bought organic.
Are there any other nutrition consultations or services available?

What should be discussed during a first time consultation with a personal trainer?
The standard first time personal consultation with a personal trainer should cover the following information:
- General Information: Age, height, weight, body measurements, body composition (body fat %) measurement
- Physical Limitations & Medicationss: Injuries, surgeries, chronic diseases, etc. Any and all medications (some alter heart rate)
- Personal Goals: Specific event to train for, specific amount of weight desired to lose, muscular hypertrophy, etc
- Program Design: Frequency of training, load and volume of training (how often to train, how much weight to lift, how many repetitions to perform)
- Personal Training Schedule: How often will client meet with trainer (weekly, monthly, yearly)
- Any Other Personal Information/Questions/Concerns: Client is responsible for disclosing all relative information in regards to physical performance. Client is given opportunity to ask any questions or state any concerns
Will weight training make me bulky?
It depends on the weight training program design. Lifting heavy weight (85 to 100 % of maximum) for low repetitions (5 to 8 reps) promotes muscular hypertrophy (growth). Lifting moderate weight (60 to 85 % of maximum) for moderate repetitions (10 to 15 repetitions) promotes some muscular hypertrophy as well as muscular endurance typically resulting in a tight and toned muscle. Lifting light weight (40 to 60 % of maximum) for high repetitions (18 to 25 repetitions) promotes high muscular endurance and little muscular hypertrophy typically not changing the size or shape of the muscle. Our personal trainers and strength and conditioning coaches will tailor your exercise program to your individual goals.
